| Description | : This Mission Station was established in 1971 in order to
look after the spiritual needs of Catholics in the Ordnance factory.
Fr. Mathew Vathalloor CMI from Ballarpur made contacts for the
purchase of land at Sumthana village and Fr. Eugene Thomas CMI
constructed a house for starting a mission station here.Fr. K.D.
Chacko constructed a chapel at Piparbody, which is 4 kms from
sumthana in 1986 and the Sunday service was conducted there till
1993. Fr. Emmanuel Kandathil constructed a new chapel in the
factory campus in collaboration with other Christian
Denominations and it was blessed on 7 August 1993. Sisters of St.
Anne, Bangalore, began their convent here in 1988. They are
rendering their services for the development of the people through
various activities. |
